Things I like…

There are truly so many beautifully designed gadgets, gismos, furniture, lighting & textiles out there in the big wide world that I thought I’d use my blog to share some of the things that catch my eye…

Something for the bedroom.  I absolutely love the bold bright graphic prints by designer Orla Kiely.  I was so excited when I stumbled across the bedding range at Myers.

City-%20Flinders%20St Something for the walls.  These tram banners are the coolest wall art I’ve seen in a while.  You can either order from their collection or have them design your very own unique banner.

Wonderful news...you can now find the ANTON’S LANE label at the online boutique The Natural Newborn, as well as in a boutique in sunny Mooloolaba - Eco Child. If you’re holidaying over the weekend at the Sunshine Coast drop on in to Eco Child to see our bedding, and say hello to the Eco Child team for us.

Story Time

I find that every new idea comes to me in the form of random words and images.  They then slowly melt together until they form a story.  To be completely honest, before Anton’s Lane became a nursery brand, it was actually a bedtime story.  So, here it is...the story that became “Anton’s Lane”...

Where is Anton’s Lane?
Down the cobblestones of Anton's Lane dream a dream so true,
Dream of strawberry pirate ships or flying kangaroos.
Dream of little wombats too, in speckled crimson hats,
Dream of giant singing wasps with friendly feathered bats.
Dream of raining cats and dogs and sparkling silver suns,
Dream of chocolate coated koalas eating sticky buns.
Dream a dream, a dream so true, down the cobbled lane so small,
For one day soon it may come true..be sure your dreams grow tall!

You may have noticed that the final line of this poem was the inspiration behind the “Garden Grow” wall art!

What’s in a Name?

With three degrees to my name I’d happily describe myself as an academic. Prior to 2008 I was working at one of Australia’s most respected Children’s Hospitals and doing what I love to do – “helping the world, one child at a time”! Who would ever have thought that my life was about to take such an amazing detour the day my little boy “Anton” was born.

Although I had completed many years of study, I soon learnt that I knew very little. Anton opened my eyes to a world seen through that of a child; he showed me the honesty, innocence and truth of childhood. But the most amazing gift Anton gave me was “time”. Becoming a “stay at home mum” gave me the time to find other things I enjoy. Unbeknownst to me, it turns out I have an eye for design, which brings me enjoyment!

Anton has taken me on an amazing journey down, what I can only imagine to be, a long winding cobblestone lane of self-discovery. So, when I launched my organic baby bedding label I could not think of a more fitting name...and that is the story of how ANTON’S LANE was named!

Whilst I continue to enjoy practicing Paediatric Neuropsychology, I now find I have a more balanced life – full of love, laughter, family, and creativity.

The Anton’s Lane Story

I am very excited to announce the launch of a fresh new Australian designed (and owned) organic and eco-friendly baby bedding brand - ANTON’S LANE! This is the ANTON’S LANE story...

Once Upon a Time...in my quest (as a new mother) to decorate my baby’s first room I was on the look-out for bold, vibrant, colourful, imaginative, cool and sweet baby organic bedding. I wanted designs that made a bold statement in his room. To my dismay the great majority of organic baby bedding on the market was either white or naturally coloured.

Armed with a lot of persistence (and a song in my heart) I decided that if I’m unable to buy what I wanted, I might as well have it made! So...with a lot of help from some truly talented and inspiring people (such as our designer Naomi Murrell), the first chapter of the ANTON’S LANE story was written!

We hope that ANTON’S LANE also becomes part of your baby’s story too...
